Ferro Titanium

Product description

Ferrotitanium is an iron alloy composed of titanium and iron. It contains aluminum, silicon, carbon, sulfur, phosphorus, manganese and other impurities. It is used as deoxidizing agent, desulfurizing agent, degassing agent and alloying agent for steel making. In the steelmaking process, it is added as an alloying element to the steel, which plays the role of refining the structure grain, fixing the gap elements (C, N), and improving the strength of the steel.

Performance and Features

1. It is used as deoxidizer and deaerator. The deoxidation capacity of titanium is much higher than that of silicon and manganese, and can reduce the segregation of the steel ingot, improve the quality of the steel ingot, and increase the yield;

2. It is used as an alloying agent. It is the main raw material of special steel grades, which can increase the strength, corrosion resistance and stability of steel. It can improve the performance of cast iron. Used in the casting industry to improve the wear resistance, stability, and workability of cast iron;

3. Ferrotitanium is also the raw material of titanium calcium type electrode coating.

Applications

1. Ferrotitanium is used as a deoxidizer, deaerator and carbon-sulfur stabilizer in steelmaking. Deoxidation of titanium for the production of killed steel can reduce segregation in the upper part of the steel ingot, improve the quality of the steel and increase the yield of the steel ingot.

2. Titanium and nitrogen dissolved in the molten steel can be combined into a stable titanium nitride, which can eliminate the adverse effects of nitrogen on steel properties. Titanium and sulfur in the molten steel generate titanium sulfide, which can eliminate the formation of iron sulfide that causes thermal embrittlement.

3. Titanium and carbon produce extremely stable titanium carbide. The particles of titanium carbide can prevent the growth of steel grains, refine the structure of steel, and increase the strength of steel.
